Hi Shaun

Welcome to the group...things will be a bit quiet over August but two or three events are looking likely for the autumn. Will post up details via this page. Look forward to meeting you on 19th.

Hi all - great to be part of the group - I am not the most regular of commentors but will keep abreast of activity and assist/participate where possible

Hi Ruth,

I manage a Time Bank here in Ohio USA and would appreciate being involved or helping in some way with a "tool-kit' for practitioners. What do you say?

Please pass these Time Bank announcements around.

Hello friend,

I'm writing to invite you to the TimeBanks USA conference, A Time For Transformation: Banking on Families and Communities to Be the Change, in lovely Providence Rhode Island. It's August 4-7 at Brown University.
We have accumulated nearly 30 years' experience in 34 countries worldwide and have found that timebanking can help ensure that people of all stripes, ages, and abilities have access to resources they need while also having a chance to build skills, opportunities and self-esteem through reciprocity. We have made significant strides in building community capacity in the fields of family support, juvenile and adult restorative justice, elder care, food security, disaster relief and preparedness, and more. What's more, timebanking is uniquely effective at connecting people across demographic boundaries in a spirit of cooperative community interdependence. In short, we need it now more than ever.

The TimeBanks USA conference is a unique opportunity to learn and share with people from all over the world. August 4 brings full-day a colloquium on child welfare plus two pre-conference trainings in: organizing and coordinating a timebank, and using timebanking and co-production for systems change. The day after the conference, August 7, we'll host Sunday School:  a half-day exploration of varying facilitation and governance models that can help you unleash more participation and leadership, and a concurrent session on fundraising and sustainability for your timebank or other community organization.

The days of the conference itself, August 5 and 6, bring a whole lot of other learning, networking, and tool creation/unveiling opportunities - including the grand release of our new Community Weaver 2.0 open source software and the new Action Hub set of online learning and communication tools we can use to support each other much more actively . It'll be a great way to learn A LOT in a short time. We're also working to bring people from far-flung places so there will hopfeully be some exciting opportunities there, including working toward an International Timebanking Alliance.

We're also seeking proposals for workshops. The agenda is starting to take shape in its larger themes and we'd love to hear what you'd like to contribute. The themes are broad so the possibilities are many. The first day is focused on the many modes and applications of timebanking. The second day is focused on global work in timebanking and the direction things are going, then on how we create local and regional support structures so we can be more connected with others near us who are doing similar work. We'll have workshops both on theory and practice and all ideas are welcome! The Call for Presentations, attached, has more detail.

We hope to see you this August!

p.s. If you're able, please donate extra as you register to help others who can't afford the fee. If you want to come but have trouble with the fee we'd like to help provide tools for raising the funds from your local area, through member and business sponsorships. Let us know what you need or how you can help!
